WELCOME

THE BUSINESS PROFESSIONAL GROUP WAS FORMED IN THE 1970’S AS A GAY
MEN’S GROUP. TODAY IT EXISTS TO BRING TOGETHER GAY AND LESBIAN PROFESSIONALS IN AN OPEN AND CONGENIAL ATMOSPHERE FOR BOTH BUSINESS NETWORKING AND SOCIAL PURPOSES. MEMBERS COME FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE AND PROFESSIONS. APPROXIMATELY TEN PERCENT OF THE MEMBERSHIP IS RETIRED. WHILE THE ORGANIZATION IS MADE UP OF MEMBERS OF THE GAY COMMUNITY, IT IS NOT EXCLUSIVE. STRAIGHT PEOPLE ARE WELCOME, TOO.

SUBMIT A REFERRAL

We are holding an ongoing contest of business referrals. The member who refers the most wins a prize! The winner will be announced every other month. Everytime you give a referral, submit your name, the name of your referral, and the name of the member to whom you referred. All information will be handled in strict confidence.

Click here to submit your name, the peRson you referred, and the member to whom you refeRred. For privacy reasons, just the first name of the person referred is acceptable.

ABOUT US

LIKE MANY BUSINESS GROUPS, THE BPG MEMBERSHIP IS LIMITED PER PROFESSION. THE GROUP ALLOWS NO MORE THAN SIX MEMBERS PER
PROFESSIONAL CATEGORY TO PREVENT BEING "TOP HEAVY" IN ONE AREA OR
ANOTHER. MOST NEW MEMBERS JOIN BY
REFERRAL BY CURRENT MEMBERS. THE ORGANIZATION WOULD LIKE PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS TO
ATTEND FOUR FUNCTIONS AS A GUEST BEFORE BEING INVITED TO JOIN. UPON INVITATION, THE NEW
MEMBERS PRESENT AN APPLICATION TO THE BOARD AND ARE INTERVIEWED. THE GROUP WANTS TO
MAKE SURE THAT EACH NEW PERSON IS COMPATIBLE WITH THE REST OF THE MEMBERSHIP AND
THAT THE BPG IS WHAT THAT MEMBER IS LOOKING FOR IN A BUSINESS GROUP.

OUR MISSION

The Business Professional Group believes that building long-term relationships between community members
enhances personal and business growth. The group is open to people of all walks of life and does not discriminate
against sexual status, orientation, race, religion or nationality. The only limit to the membership in the BPG are the
limitations in professional representation as laid down in the organization bylaws (no more than six representatives of a
particular profession at one time).

BREAKFASTS

The weekly breakfast meetings on Thursday mornings are a staple of the BPG. Some members attend regularly, others only occasionally. It is not mandatory, but it is enjoyable. Members meet each week from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Primavera Restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale. Breakfast is served buffet style. The weekly breakfast is in a private area of the dining room. There is a ten to fifteen minute presentation by one of the
members about business, news or personal observations and experiences. On occassion, we have guest speakers presenting subject matters of general interest. The breakfast meetings are a casual affair where people are encouraged to talk and visit with each other, making business contacts as well as friendships.
